Introducing Seamless Device & Concurrency Management for OTT Platform Admins

Shalabh Agarwal Dec 4th, 2023

In today’s interconnected world, managing access and security across multiple devices is paramount. At Enveu, we understand the importance of empowering our clients with robust control over their OTT platform usage. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our latest innovation, the “Device and Concurrency Management” feature. With this, admin can easily manage user access from the CMS itself. The customization is currently available at the offer-level only.

Before diving into the features, let’s first understand what device and concurrency management.

What is Device Management?

Device management involves overseeing the devices used by subscribers to access the OTT service. It includes:

  • Device Authentication: Verifying and allowing access to legitimate devices. This involves ensuring that only authorized devices can access the service.
  • Device registration The process of adding and identifying a new device to the user’s account. This could involve authentication, authorization, and associating the device with the user’s profile.
  • Device Limits: Setting limits on the number of devices a user can use simultaneously or within a specific timeframe. This helps prevent account sharing or excessive usage.
  • Device tracking: Monitoring and keeping records of devices used to access the service. This information can be used for analytics, security purposes, and understanding user behavior.
  • Device Deactivation: Giving users the ability to deactivate or remove devices from their account. This might be necessary in case a device is lost or if the user wants to restrict access.

What is Concurrency Management?

Concurrency management refers to the practice of controlling and regulating simultaneous access to resources or services, particularly in the context of computer systems, networks, or digital platforms. This involves:

  • Simultaneous Streams: Limiting the number of streams a user can play concurrently. For instance, a subscription might allow only one, two, or more simultaneous streams, depending on the plan.
  • Concurrent Device Limits: Determining the maximum number of devices that can access the service at the same time with a single account. This prevents users from sharing their credentials with multiple people simultaneously.
  • Fair Usage Policies: Implementing policies to ensure fair access to resources and prevent abuse. This could involve restrictions on the frequency or duration of simultaneous access from different devices.

Both device and concurrency management are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the OTT service, ensuring security, preventing unauthorized access, managing network bandwidth, and providing a consistent user experience. Balancing user convenience with security measures is key in this process.

How Enveu is Helping?

Enveu is providing device and concurrency management to its users on an offer level with the help of the CMS. Now you can easily manage the number of devices and concurrent users based on the plan they opt-in.

Device Access Control will empower admins by allowing them to manage which devices can access their content. This feature ensures security, prevents unauthorized access, and offers a seamless user experience across approved devices.

Concurrent Access Control limits how many devices or streams can access content simultaneously with one account. It prevents sharing, secures content, optimizes bandwidth, and maintains a smooth viewing experience within defined access limits.

Password Sharing Reporting

Password Sharing Reporting tracks and provides insights into any sharing of login credentials. It helps monitor account activity, identify unauthorized access, and enable action against suspicious behavior for enhanced security. You can remove a specific device or all devices from a single user. We are currently supporting reports for device levels only.
