With the Retention Policy now live in the CMS, teams can manage content availability with more confidence and less manual work. Earlier, before this, content expiry used to be managed manually with constant reminders and regular checks, which is extra work and takes time and effort.
As Content libraries expanded, this process became harder to manage. Some content has a time limit — like seasonal releases or licensed titles. If those limits aren’t managed properly, old content can continue showing on the platform.
Retention Policy changes this by the team’s planning by deciding in advance what should happen to the content.
What Has Changed
Instead of going through the content later, the configuration of content retention rules can be done while uploading or updating a title of the content. Instead of correcting issues after they happen, teams can now manage content timelines from the start.
Available Retention Options
When managing a title, CMS users can choose:

- Forever – Allows you to Keep the content live with no expiry date.
- Unpublish – You can remove the content from the app or website, but you can also keep it saved in the CMS so it can be used again later.
- Unpublish & Delete – When the content is no longer needed, you can remove it completely from both the platform and the CMS
Why This Matters for Content Owners
With the help of Retention Policy in, teams need not to worry about constantly checking and going through the whole content that what should still be live and what shouldn’t don’t have to
It helps platforms:
- Reduce time spent tracking expiry dates manually
- Stay updated on licensing and regulatory timelines
- Avoid last-minute faults and rushes to take content down
- Help in keeping the catalogue clean and relevant for viewers
- Make it easy to handle growing libraries without losing visibility or control
The Retention Policy is now live and ready to use in the Enveu CMS., and it is making it easier for teams to keep their content organized and up to date as the platform grows.
