VAST & VMAP Generator for VOD

Build IAB-compliant VAST 3.0/4.0 and VMAP 1.0 ad tags for VOD — schedule pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll breaks with inline or wrapper ads, optional companion and non-linear creatives, your own ad-tag URLs, then preview it in a real IMA player and copy or download the XML.

1 · Ad creative
Default is a short CC0 clip served with open CORS, so it plays as an inline ad. Swap in your own creative (hosted with CORS) to test it.
2 · Tracking (optional)
If set, start / firstQuartile / midpoint / thirdQuartile / complete events are added as base?event=NAME.
3 · Companion & non-linear (optional)
4 · Ad breaks (VMAP schedule)
Mid-rolls
5 · Preview content
A short CC-BY clip served with open CORS so it plays reliably. Swap in your own content to preview against it.
Live preview (Google IMA)

Plays muted by default (browsers block autoplay with sound) — hit Unmute once it starts. Uses sample videos so it runs immediately; swap in your own media and content URLs to test real creatives. Ad blockers can stop the IMA SDK from loading.

How to use this VAST & VMAP generator

Define your ad in step 1 — choose an inline creative (build the media here) or a wrapper that redirects to a third-party ad server. Add optional companion and non-linear creatives in step 3. In step 4, enable the breaks you want and choose, per break, whether to use that VAST or point at your own ad-tag URL. Add as many mid-rolls as you need, each at its own time offset, then copy or download the VMAP. The standalone VAST tab gives you just the ad tag on its own.

A generator builds the tag — it doesn't host it. To go live, host the XML on your ad server or CDN and point your player at the URL. Enveu's player and Experience Cloud support VAST and VMAP natively across web, mobile, and TV.

FAQ

What is the difference between VAST and VMAP?
VAST describes a single ad — media file, duration, click-through, and tracking. VMAP is the schedule that tells the player when to play ads (pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll) and points each break at a VAST ad, inline or via an ad-tag URL.
Inline VAST vs wrapper — which do I use?
Use inline when you host the creative yourself. Use a wrapper to redirect to a third-party ad server (the VASTAdTagURI) while still adding your own impression and tracking on top.
How do I add mid-roll ads for VOD?
Each mid-roll is a VMAP AdBreak with a timeOffset. Use a timecode like 00:05:00.000 or a percentage like 50%. Add multiple mid-rolls at different offsets to build an ad-pod schedule for longer VOD.
Does this tool host or serve the ad tag?
No — it generates the XML. Host the VAST/VMAP file on your own ad server or CDN and point your player at the URL. Enveu's player and Experience Cloud support VAST and VMAP out of the box.
